A WordPress theme is like the base frame or structure of a WordPress website. Themes allow users to customise their site, including layouts, titles, typography, theme colours and design elements. Using the right theme allow users to create an attractive and user friendly website without spending too time. WordPress themes are kept separate from website contents such as blog posts and pages stored in the backend. This means moderators/admin can update the website easily without disrupting the overall website branding.

Themes are not to be confused with templates in WordPress. Template is a part of the theme, a template can be a header, footer or a single page. Users can choose different templates of the same element for different pages most suited to their needs.

For the theme I have chosen a multi-purpose theme, Stockholm from forest theme. It is WooCommerce and elementary compatible and I plan to add a shop section in the future. Stockholm is a popular and highly rated theme with a wide range of clean and minimalistic templates. The main reason is because it allows me to add simple animations and I think it has a professional design.
